Mammography-Screening – A German nationwide program for early diagnosis of breast cancer
Reference Centres Mammography decides for Unfors Xi
The Reference Centres Mammography will supervise all Screening Units of the German nationwide Mammography–Screening-Project regarding to medical and technical quality assurance. These new Centres will start their work with the Unfors Xi to perform multi-parameter measurements on mammo X-ray machines needed for the technical quality assurance.
„The Unfors Xi is convenient while it is small, lightweight and user-friendly” says Dipl.-Ing. Horst Lenzen, Leader of the Medical Physics at the university hospital of Münster and jointly responsible for Reference Centre Münster.
Scope of duties of the Reference Centres Mammography is to educate, serve and advise all participating physicians and specialists in order to meet high level quality requirements. In addition to that they are responsible to guarantee medical and technical quality assurance over the whole Screening Project.
Goals of the screening are:
• To detect neoplasia at an early stage,
• In the event of a detected cancer to therapy the woman better and conservative in order to improve chance of survival,
• To reduce mortality rate on breast cancer in age-group of 50 to 69aged women.
Radioprotection has a great importance in the screening project. We from Unfors support German Mammography-Screening-Project with all our abilities.
